Successful Scan Submission Tips
Step-by-Step Guide
Incomplete or incorrect scans are the number 1 reason a case submission is paused. To avoid delays, follow these guidelines.
- Scan both arches even if only treating one with Brava
- Scan 5mm of gingiva on entire arch
- Ensure solid incisal edges, all bonding surfaces are scanned and bite is in proper occlusion.
- Scan the occlusal surface around the entire upper arch starting at the most distal molar. Turn off the wand and Disable A.I. Cleanup.
- Continue scanning the lingual surface, buccal quadrants, the palate, bilateral bite (confirm patient is in their correct bite before starting the scan.
- Review the scan and rescan if any of the following occur:
- Missing bite segments
- Bite is scanned only from one side
- Bite discrepancy
- Folds, rips, tears or openings
- Saliva bubbles
- Gingival obstacles
- Overlapping scans
- Post-processing errors
- Reasons for scan rejection:
- Scan is distorted, blurry or incomplete,
- Insufficient gingiva,
- Incorrect bite registration,
- Lingual obstacles (remove all fixed appliances including bite turbos prior to scanning)
- Tori presence (scan full tori to ensure impingement is avoided)
